Description
The Tour will take you to the discovery of the hat-making tradition in the verdant Cervo Valley, famous since 1700 for the artisan production of felt hats; art transmitted to generations of master hatters and skilled workers who have made the destination famous at the highest levels of the fashion world, keeping the tradition of excellent craftsmanship unchanged.
Important liaison with the city of Alessandria with its historic Borsalino Hat Factory, suggested for a tour to discover the two products which are still the symbol of elegance par excellence.
Note
The Tour will take you to the discovery of the hat-making tradition nestled among the greenery of Valle Cervo, famous since the 1700s for the fine handcrafting of felt hats, an art handed down through the generations of master hat makers and specialist artisans.
In the morning, a guide will take you on a timeless visit, inside the historical Cappellificio Cervo, an important factory of the nineteenth century, where you can admire the magnificent original machinery of the early 20th century. The company boasts more than 656 wooden and 431 metal hat blocks and continues its long-standing activity by making exclusive creations for major international
luxury brands.
The light lunch will be enjoyed a few minutes away in a typical restaurant along the River Cervo, with roots embedded in the 1900s, where you can enjoy its specialty, the trout which has been farmed in active fish farms for more than a century and experience the quietness of these areas.
In the afternoon, the tour will continue to the town of Magliano, to the premises of the former Lanificio Botto, place of rebirth of the wool sector and art location, where you can personally make small hats in wool to make key rings; you will have your own personalized souvenir of a magnificent day out.
To end the day we recommend stopping off in Biella to try the famous Menabrea beer and the original Botalla cheese, at the Me Bo Experience, with the possibility of visiting the Me Bo Museum. There is also a shop which sells their products.
N.B.
As an alternative to the felt workshop for the entire group or for a minimum of 3 participants, on request, it will be possible to visit one of the first workers' villages in Italy, the Villaggio Operaio Poma, once site of skilled workers for the production of cotton.
