ROARING TURIN
Corso vittorio emanuele 58, Torino 10121
Description
A day to discover the history of the automobile and the city of Turin, protagonist of Italian economic history with Fiat.
An exciting journey with first stop at Lingotto, home to the first Fiat factory and on whose rooftop, suspended on the test tracks, sits the Agnelli picture gallery. A permanent exhibition of 25 extraordinary works including Tiepolo, Canova, Severini and Modigliani. On the historical Lingotto test track on the roof it is possible to visit Pista 500, a stunning exhibition route with a series of artistic and environmental installations in a hanging garden.
Lunch not included at FiatCafè 500 or in a Piedmont trattoria.
In the afternoon, visit MAUTO: the Automobile Museum of Turin boasts one of the rarest and most interesting collections of its kind, with more than 200 original vehicles of 80 brands from all over the world. The oldest group of the collection relates to the history of its founder, Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia, who brought together motorcars, chassis and engines with enthusiasm and determination.
The Open Garage may also be visited by appointment and payment. It covers a space of 2000m2 situated on the basement floor of the museum, a real vault which preserves seventy wonderful motorcars which are restored and preserved here, as well as observed and studied.
At the end of the day, stop in an historical pastry shop of the centre to taste the famous "bicerin", a beverage of the local tradition created in 1763 based on coffee chocolate and cream and served in glass cups.
