Plein air painting workshop in Sale San Giovanni. Enjoy an immersive experience made famous by impressionists. Artists like Claude Monet and Vincent Van Gogh chose to work outdoors to try and capture the effects of light and color with quick brushstrokes. Besides the technical challenge, plein air painting is a meditative experience, a way to distance yourself from a hectic lifestyle and reconnect with nature. Natural pigments, sourced from plants and described by an expert in herbal techniques, will be used to respect the environment.
A lunch box filled with local specialties is included to enjoy a picnic among the fields.
The experience ends with a visit to the parish Church of San Giovanni Battista to admire the late-Gothic frescoes.
Sala San Giovanni is also home to the Chapel of Sant' Anastasia which features frescoes dating from the thirteenth to the late sixteenth century.
