Altare

Description
A few kilometers from Altare, precisely in Prasottano, as soon as you enter the Adelasia Regional Nature Reserve, the clean fresh air, scented by moss and resin, fills the lungs. The trail meanders between century-old trees and streams blending the pleasant sounds of flowing water, wind rustling among the leaves and birds chirping. At each step, the soil changes consistency and the steps change sound: soft on leaves, rougher on stones. As you climb, your breathing deepens and your pulse quickens, but the effort disappears at the sight of the breathtaking view: from the lookout point of the Fort where Adelasia, daughter of Ottone I of Saxony, found shelter with Aleramo during their romantic escape, the eyes sweeps over the rolling hills of Val Bormida and, on clear days, extends
to the sea.
The experience ends with the visit to the Church of Santa Maria outside the walls in Millesimo to admire the late-Gothic frescoes.
