You will find yourselves immersed in the life and times of one of the most extraordinary female figures of the European Middle Ages: countess, strategist and patron, Matilde was the protagonist of crucial events which sealed the fate of the Holy Roman Empire and the Church. A journey through past and present, between culture, nature and memory.

Gather at the AV Station of Reggio Emilia. Transfer by dedicated shuttle service to Canossa to participate in the Virtual Tour YOU ARE MATILDE, inside the Castle of Canossa (favorite residence of the grand countess Matilde of Canossa). In the winter of 1077 this was the site of the culminating episode of the duel between the Church and the Empire, the humiliation of King Henry IV in the presence of the Pontiff Gregory VII. Travel through time, alternating real narratives with virtual experiences. Taste balsamic vinegar at the Municipal Vinegar Works "Rupe di Canossa" at the foot of the Castle of Canossa. The first mention of this special vinegar dates to the notes of the monk Donizone in 1046, which stated that a vinegar, elixir and balm was produced inside the walls of the castle. In old barrels of various types of wood (oak, chestnut, cherry, mulberry, juniper), the cooked must slowly and gradually transforms into traditional balsamic vinegar. Aged for a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 years, the final product is an intensely dark liquid with a bright clear appearance and dense consistency, a unique sweet-sour flavor.
