Program
Day 1
Arrive in Turin late morning
Lunch at leisure
Short walk along Via Roma and Via Po as far as the Mole Antonelliana. Architectural symbol of the city of Turin, the Mole Antonelliana was initially conceived as a Synagogue, before being purchased by the City to transform it into a national monument. Designed and begun by the architect Alessandro Antonelli in 1863, it was completed in 1889. At the time, standing 167. 5 meters tall, it was the highest brick building in Europe. In 1961, the scenic elevator was inaugurated to mark the Centenary of Italian Unification. It was renovated in 1999, and allows visitors to reach the temple, at 85 meters of height and admire the extraordinary view of the city and the Alps that surrounds it.
The building is home to the Cinema Museum, where you can admire extraordinary collections and go through the history of cinema from its origins to our day. An interactive visit to discover the sets, objects and many historical finds. To finish, you will take a ride in the scenic elevator of the Mole Antonelliana.
Free time to discover the many corners of Turin: the first capital of the Kingdom of Italy retains a downtown which is refined and rich in culture. Sumptuous baroque and antique cafeterias line the avenues and grandiose squares of Turin, such as piazza Castello, piazza San Carlo, piazza Vittorio and piazza Carignano. In a historical cafeteria you will participate in an afternoon snack, the Merenda Reale ® a short travel through time among the Savoy Royals.
Between a steaming cup of hot chocolate or Bicerin, offered together with the irresistible "bagnati" and other chocolate specialties rigorously to dip, such as savoiardi, baci di dama torcetti, lingue di gatto, canestrelli, cri cri, diablottini and gianduiotti, you will enjoy an
unforgettable break.
Dinner at leisure and overnight stay in hotel.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel and tour of the Lavazza Museum in the spectacular headquarters of the Borgo Dora district. The internationally acclaimed Lavazza brand was born in a small studio in the historic center of Turin. Since 1895, Lavazza has been synonymous with coffee and Italian excellence.
The Lavazza Museum is an immersive experience in the culture of coffee and its rituals, a multi-sensory path which goes through the history of a company and the coffee chain.
The exhibition is divided into five themed areas between sounds, images and aromas: Casa Lavazza, La Fabbrica, l'Atelier and l'Universo, to finish with Lavazza excellence: from the classic cafeteria with single-origin blends to Coffetail Lavazza, the exclusive recipes of Coffee Design, from the collaboration of the Lavazza Training Center with renowned international chefs to experience new ways of enjoying espresso.
At the end of the tour, with a delightful stroll heading down towards Porta Palazzo, we recommend you visit the Balon, a district of antique dealers, gifts and vintage items. The ancient flea market, held every Saturday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. is an attraction not to be missed.
Lunch at leisure.
In the afternoon, experience the Gianduiotto workshop. Discover all the secrets and magic of Turin' s chocolate under the guidance of a Master Chocolatier: a captivating story of the history of Turin confectionery which will end with samplings and
tastings
Dinner at leisure in the Roman Quadrilateral, a bustling area of Turin full of restaurants and traditional eateries. Overnight in hotel
Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Pessione to visit Casa Martini to explore the Martini ® world. The Martini ® products tell the history of two visionary men, of an ancient art which brings together excellent wines and aromatic herbs: each bottle encloses experience and craftsmanship known worldwide. It was 1863 when the first vermouth was produced, the MARTINI® Rosso and the recipe of this original mix is still with us today. You will participate in the Discovery Tour of the Casa Martini museums and the new section dedicated to the botanicals of vermouth. Followed by tour of the production plant and Vermouth Class: under the guidance of the Martini Ambassador you will discover the techniques of the master blender, how to use the botanicals and blend the aromatic notes to create your personal Vermouth to take home.
Transfer to Alessandria. Free time for a delightful walk in the historic center: we recommend a tour of the ACDB Bicycle Museum of Alessandria or of the Art Rooms with the 14th-century Arthurian frescoes or Palatium Vetus with the permanent exhibition of 20th-century artists
(Pellizza da Volpedo, Carrà, Morbelli, Morando).
Dinner in trattoria with tasting menu of local dishes, such as “rabaton”, a local dish of gnocchi of ricotta and herbs.
Overnight in centrally-located 4 star hotel.
Day 4
Transfer to Alessandria to visit another world famous brand. The Borsalino hat is synonymous with tradition, craftsmanship and excellence. All production takes place close to the city of Alessandria, where the company was founded in 1857 and in the company’s new premises where the gestures of the ‘borsaline’, the female workers of the historical factory, are repeated every day. In the Museum thanks to modern multimedia supports you will discover that the production process requires 52 steps by skilled artisans to make one Borsalino hat. All the passages are carried out like 166 years ago, no serial mold just passion and high level of professionalism. The journey continues with the history of the Borsalino family and its inextricable link to the city of Alessandria. Eight monumental display cabinets designed by Arnaldo Gardella for the ancient Samples Room of Borsalino punctuate the passage between as many narrative sections: more than two thousand hats are on show: cinema art and design through the most famous hat in the world.
Light lunch in osteria of the city center.
Followed by self-guided walking tour of the historical center of Alessandria to discover several of the works commissioned by the Borsalino family to Ignazio Gardella, architect and designer and one of the key players of twentieth-century Italian architecture. The Fur Cutting area (1949-1956) - Borsalino Employee accommodation (1949/1952) - Esselunga (1988)
- Agorà building (1984/1991). During the tour stop off at the historical Borsalino boutique where expert personnel will help you try on and purchase "your" very own hat with a dedicated discount. Dinner at leisure and overnight in hotel.
Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel and short transfer to Valenza to participate in the
Gold Experience.
The Gold Experience is the first and only guided tour of an historic goldsmith company, excellence of craftsmanship, based in Valenza since 1957. During this exclusive experience visitors can learn how jewels are born along a cultural and sensorial route.
The four-stages of the tour are:
- Art in the family genes, starting from the grandfather, a famous artist and painter: goldsmithing and painting come together to transmit emotions.
- The Museum of the History Room which traces the evolution of the equipment of master goldsmiths and where the many national and international awards of the company are on display;
- The Factory, namely inside the goldsmithing workshop: the various phases of jewel creation is explained, from the design idea (hand drawn and then transformed into 3D), moving on to the waxes, to arrive at the choice of materials and gemstones. You will be amazed at how many passages there are in the skillful goldsmith's hands to arrive at a finished jewel ready to wear.
- The Boutique, the showcase of the exclusive creations to admire and purchase with the advice of a full-fledged jewel guide.
An authentic journey through goldsmith craftsmanship which has made the town of Valenza synonymous with excellence in the world.
