Day 1

Participants arrive in Laino Borgo, an ancient village in the heart of the Pollino National Park, located on the border between Calabria and Basilicata, included in the national circuit of "The Authentic Villages of Italy." The small town is crossed by the Lao River, where visitors can experience thrilling rafting and other water sports such as river trekking and canyoning. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 10

Sea and mountains in the cradle of Magna Graecia

Breakfast at the hotel. We've reached the end of our e-bike tour to discover Calabria! Today's stop is the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria, described by the famous Gabriele D'Annunzio as "the most beautiful kilometer in Italy." The heart of the city is its historic Piazza Italia and the majestic Basilica Cathedral of Maria SS. Assunta, whose history has been marked by destruction caused by wars, fires, and earthquakes, up to its current state after the 1908 earthquake. Cradle of Magna Graecia, the city is rich in history and culture, including the famous National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, which houses the famous Riace Bronzes, masterpieces of bronze statuary from the 5th century BC, as well as artifacts from throughout Calabria, from prehistoric times to the late Roman era.

Day 2

Cycling to the ancient village of Altomonte

Breakfast at the inn. Your e-bike tour officially begins! From Laino Borgo, you'll begin pedaling to Altomonte, an ancient village listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy," a recognition that highlights its historical and cultural importance. The main points of interest are the 12th-century Norman Castle of Altomonte, the Civic Museum, which houses a collection of artworks from several local churches, and the Church of Santa Maria della Consolazione, an example of Angevin architecture built in 1336 by order of Filippo di Sangineto, the first Count of Altomonte. Day 3

From Pollino National Park to Sila National Park

Breakfast at the hotel. The itinerary will take you from the rugged and majestic peaks of Pollino National Park to the gentle, green slopes of Sila National Park. The destination for the day is Acri, an urban center rich in history and culture, offering natural, artistic, and traditional culinary delights. Home to illustrious figures, Acri boasts monuments, churches, and museums that narrate its ancient historical roots. The Acri Museum of Contemporary Art (MACA) is renowned, housing a collection of works by artist Silvio Vigliaturo. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 4

Cycling along the shores of Lake Cecita

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, we depart from Acri for Lorica, a destination for mountain tourism enthusiasts on the Sila Plateau. Along the route, we'll skirt Lake Cecita, one of the largest lakes in the area, until we reach Lake Arvo, another important lake where various sports are practiced. Along the road that runs alongside Lake Cecita, the Cupone Visitor Center is located, an important stop for those who wish to explore and learn about the Sila National Park. Near Lorica lies San Giovanni in Fiore, a mountain town known for the Florense Abbey, one of Calabria's greatest medieval architectural masterpieces, and for its goldsmith art, carried on for generations by the Spadafora family. Another point of natural interest is the Sila Giants Reserve, managed by the FAI (Italian National Trust), which preserves 58 centuries-old Corsican pine trees. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Discovering the Sila Plateau through gentle climbs and breathtaking landscapes

Breakfast at the hotel. Today's stage will leave you speechless: through gentle ups and downs and pristine landscapes, you'll pedal along the roads that cross the heart of the Sila. From Lorica, you'll pedal to Villaggio Mancuso, skirting the plateau's third lake, Lake Ampollino. A mountain village in the Sila Piccola, it is characterized by the typical presence of Nordic-style chalets from the 1950s and 1960s. The small village offers natural beauty and landscapes, and the surrounding area is home to a rich biodiversity, an ideal place for walks and relaxation. Important local attractions include the "Antonio Garcea" Monaco Visitor Center, dedicated to the discovery and appreciation of Sila's nature and biodiversity, and the Taverna Civic Museum, which is an important reference point for scholars and enthusiasts of Mattia Preti, a native of the area. Day 6

On the bike to Tiriolo, the ancient village of two seas

Breakfast at the inn. From Villaggio Mancuso, you'll ride your bike to Tiriolo, an ancient village in the province of Catanzaro. During this day, you'll begin to discover its cultural and scenic charm, as Tiriolo is nestled between the two seas that bathe Calabria: the Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas. Textile art and violin making are two expressions of Tiriolo's culture and traditions, passed down through generations and still alive in the village. Historically, the Archaeological Museum, which houses artifacts from the Brettii and Roman periods, the Gianmartino Archaeological Park, a site of great cultural interest thanks to the wealth of artifacts discovered, and the Traditional Costume Museum, which displays 36 faithful hand-made reproductions of traditional costumes. Day 7

From Tiriolo to Spadola towards the Serre Natural Park

Breakfast at the hotel. Today's stage includes departing from Tiriolo to reach Spadola, a small village nestled in the protected natural area of the Serre Park. Situated at 745 meters on the Ionian side of the Serre, Spadola has very ancient origins; the first historical document attesting to its foundation dates back to 1093, the year in which Count Roger the Norman granted a plot of land to the Carthusian monk San Bruno. Near Spadola lies Serra San Bruno, known for the Certosa, a Carthusian monastery dedicated to its founder, San Bruno, dating back to 1091. Another point of historical interest is the Royal Bourbon Ironworks Museum of Mongiana, an industrial archaeology site created during the Bourbon reign between the 17th and 19th centuries. Day 8

Gerace, the ancient village of the sparrowhawk

Breakfast at the inn. We're almost at the end of our e-bike tour dedicated to discovering Calabria! After breakfast, we'll hop on our bikes and pedal to Gerace, in the heart of the Aspromonte National Park. Listed among the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy," Gerace is known as the "ancient village of the sparrowhawk" because it is said that around the 10th century AD, the inhabitants of the nearby town of Locri, attempting to escape yet another Saracen attack, were guided to the highest points by a sparrowhawk, known in Greek as Jerax. Points of cultural interest include the Gerace Cathedral, built between the late 11th and early 12th centuries on a pre-existing Norman-era sacred structure, and the Gerace Castle, dating back to the 7th century AD, of which only a majestic tower and a few walls remain today. Day 9

Palmi, the enchanting terrace overlooking the Strait of Messina

Breakfast at the hotel. From the Ionian coast, you'll ride your bike to the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria. Today's stop is Palmi, known as the city on terraces, offering breathtaking views from which you can glimpse the Aeolian Islands. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, Palmi stands on the ruins of the city of Taureana, destroyed by Saracen pirates in 951 AD. Despite several earthquakes and natural disasters, today the city boasts a unique structure composed of terraces offering panoramic views of the Strait of Messina. In addition to being a seaside destination, Palmi is particularly appreciated for its architectural beauty, reflecting its history and culture. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
