The Metalliferous Hills of the Maremma of Tuscany is home to Caldana, a small hamlet of Gavorrano. “Accoglienza Turistica Diffusa” is a project that stems from the residents’ desire for future temporary citizens. Booking a holiday in a village means experiencing its people, soaking up its atmosphere, becoming part of a population who loves that place so much and yet decides to open it to outsiders. Your days will be enriched by a warm greeting, a smile, a story, an anecdote, a fantastic experience which will make you feel like a citizen of this magical place.
Schedule
Day 1
The Traditional Maremmana Cooking Lessons are a series of cooking courses which are held in the ancient village of Caldana with chefs Sandro, Giuseppe, Claudia, Luciano and Emilio. The goal of the lessons is to preserve and hand down the ancient Maremmana culinary traditions, famous for their genuine quality and deep connection with the land and surrounding sea. The lessons are held in appropriately equipped kitchens inside the farms of the village, agriturismi or traditional restaurants of Caldana. This allows participants to immerse themselves in local culture and learn in an authentic environment. A key element of the traditional cooking proposed in our courses is the use of local and seasonal ingredients. The chefs emphasise the importance of selecting high-quality fresh produce from the local farmlands or from the sea. You can prepare and make traditional dishes which can be later tasted in the company of all the participants to promote socialisation and sharing.
