Description
Following the footsteps of Umberto Eco in Piedmont means undertaking a journey through memory, culture and territory, through his sharp, ironic and deeply human gaze: a tour which reveals the man behind the thinker, the narrator behind the philosopher.
From Alessandria his beloved birthplace, to Nizza Monferrato and Turin, the city of studies and which saw him semiologist, philosopher, writer and undisputed protagonist of the history of contemporary culture.
The final stop of the tour will be the Sacra of San Michele, the symbolic abbey of Piedmont which overlooks Val di Susa, and whose architecture inspired the setting of the novel "The Name of the Rose".

The historical crime novel joins semiotics and narrative, biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory, and has been translated into 47 languages with thirty million copies sold.

The abbey challenges the principles of physics and dominates the peak of Monte Pirchiriano, at the entrance to Valle di Susa: A magnificent location, full of spirituality, originally guarded by the Benedictine Monks and from 1837 entrusted to the Rosminiani Fathers.
