Lavender in Northern Monferrato
The tour starts in Quargnento which is home to one of the most extensive lavender fields of the area. Here, the lavender is transformed into essential oil (one bottle of 10 milliliters of essential oil requires approximately two kilos of lavender, equal to five square meters of crop) through steam distillation. The plant is also partly dried, picked in bunches, and later the flowers are manually removed from the stems and closed inside bags made by hand with refined fabrics to enhance the scent. In the dedicated gazebo it will be possible to purchase cosmetics and taste a delicious lavender ice cream thanks also to the food-grade lavender produced on the farm. The journey in search of blue lavender fields continues in Cuccaro with visit to big bench 99: painted purple and surrounded by lavender fields it will allow you to admire the surrounding hills and take stunning souvenir photos, especially
at sunset.

The journey starts in Castelletto d'Erro: from the small village and particularly from the Square Tower or from the Church of Sant'Anna there is a stunning view of the hills in bloom with Monviso and the Ligurian Apennines in the background. Visit farm to discover the lavender processing methods, its distillation to produce essential oils and scented water for cosmetic use.
